Die Antwoord

This song is called 'Beat Boy' from the album $O$(2010). Die Antwoord is a group out of South Africa making some pretty interesting rap music. But before they were making interesting rap, they were called Max Normal TV and were making weird drone, hip hop, electronic, technotronic, idek. This next song is called 'Way of the Dassie' from Good Morning South America.

Pill Wonder-Wishing Whale

wishing whale - pill wonder from Martin Anderson on Vimeo

An amazingly creative video always makes a good song better. For this video, it's deffinately the case. The mirroring and overlapping effects with the retro 70's clips makes this work of art like butta'.

If you liked Pill Wonder, you can get it here.

Once again, thank you Naturalismo for bringing this to my attention.

Curren$y - Wheres Smokee Robinson?

I'm back...

- Oh, and I found Smokee Robinson.

Curren$y the Hot Spitta is back with his latest mixtape entitled 'Wheres Smokee Robinson?'

The Hot Spitta working with Don Cannon is sure to do numbers with this highly anticipating mixtape.
The New Orleans rapper has a lot on his plate for this year and I'm sure he's going to savour each bite and move on to the next plate.

CARLOS ANTONIO - EL HOMBRE ORQUESTRA from OESB // FUTURE SOUND on Vimeo.

The live session was recorded in Lima, Peru, May 15th 2009 by LimaFotoLibre. Carlos Antonio is also known as El Hombre Orquesta (One Man Band). Carlos is formerly from Chiclayo, a small city eight hours north of Lima, but he has performed on the streets of Lima for over 24 years.

Charlie McAlister - "Sardine In A Bastard Suit", 1999

charlie mcalister - "sardine in a bastard suit", 1999
this album is something i'd call 'fragmented' or 'messy' rock. it's all over the place, recorded on tapes, performed drunk, or seemingly so, and made only for filthy people that don't understand normal human psychological hygiene. fuck you here.

check it out!

Axolotl - "Of Bonds In General", 2009

A more recent album from one of my favorite drone/ambient artists putting stuff out today. It's got such a great base, with a driving beat that defies the typical beats we're used to hearing. It pulls through three long, drone-y and mesmerizing tracks of noisy goodness. Snatch that shit up!

Get it here.

a taste:

What more should I be saying in these posts? What sort of info could I give that would help you decide whether you want to check it out or not?

Dubstep in da house

Hey folks,

So in trying to really mix it up, I thought I'd bring in an album that's been on repeat many times for me, but doesn't exactly fall in line with what's typically posted here. The genre's dubstep, and it's getting fucking huge. This particular album, FabricLive37, is one in a series of mixes put out by various artists brought in by Fabric, a really premier-type nightclub in London, England. This particular FabricLive is the epitome of London dubstep, and is already sort of old, in terms of where the genre's at, but I still find it rockin'. I don't really feel like it gets started until track 4 or 5, but it's a decent intro. For those of you unfamiliar with dubstep, here's a live example:

so basically, mix that into about an hour-long dubstep sesh and you have this.

19/Juke - "Soundtrack" - 1982

19/Juke - "Soundtrack", 1982
This gem, gotten from Mutant Sounds, is a serious psych-out session for the noisy at heart. It's not a harsh noise album, but actually kind of ambient rock-y at times. I've honestly never listened to music that approaches this album, or else I'd give you some comparisons. It's a beautiful album with lots of variety and fun!

Memoryhouse-Sleep Patterns (Video by Jamie Harley)

Memoryhouse - Sleep Patterns from Jamie Harley on Vimeo.

Feel the flesh of this twisted dreamscape video, artistically carved with the shapes and shades of human figures. A perfect setting to this alluring pop melody by Memoryhouse. Enjoy.

Stevie Wonder- I Just Called to Say I Love You

As Stoned Fidelity has been of the recent vintage trend, looking back to wonderful moments in music, I decided to take a glimpse at the blind wonder. The vocals on this track are impeccable, as is the music. And the video aesthetics add a (relatively) trippy element to the already out-there song. Really listen to it.

lookin' good

hi. my name is loren. i live in greenfield, massachusetts and was invited to contribute to the blog by zach, who thought that i could contribute something good to the blog. i hope that this first post lives up to that.

"now . . . do it now . . . cookson discount center . . ."
where else would you hear something like that other than in nostalgic commercial jingles?

a friend of mine simply gave this album digitally with absolutely no information. what you hear is what you get. i still have no idea whether this is truly an album of jingles extended into songs, or art created in the most ironic and professional way possible. not that the tracks are long. they're no longer than 1 minute, 4 seconds, but you'll soon realize just how long a minute lasts. definitely give it a shot. it might surprise you.

here's an example:

here's where to download the album:

oh, and on a related note:
